I've been playing around with my "big, fancy camera" because of some birdie visitors we've had (post to come). I brought it out to church softball this week to get some action shots. I so quickly forget how great of pictures I can get with it when it sits on the shelf.

Celebrating the Last Day of School
Parker's last day of first grade was Wednesday. I can't believe another year is over and second grade is just around the corner. The first picture was outside school that morning. Adventure Club doesn't start until Monday, so he got to hang out with my mom on Thursday. We gave him a sweet new summer haircut before I went back home. It was the second one in a row with little to no crying, so we are making progress.
I took his shirt picture on Thursday night since I had forgotten Wednesday morning.
We also set the pool up for the first time since it's a warm, clear weekend. Both kids were so excited to have swimming at home!
We added another fun to our home today, basketball! I had heard that he loved playing at school, and he played a bunch at my parents on Thursday. I was chatting up a friend about it and she said they had one they weren't using anymore. My parents dropped by this morning with their trailer to go pick it up. Parker is already having a blast playing (and so am I.)
It's going to be a fun summer at the Herrmann house!

Splash Pad Date Night
Friday was a toasty one here and it was also family date night. We decided to grab a pizza and head to a park. I told Jimmy to grab the kids swimsuits just in case and I am glad he did. We ended up at Central Park in Maple Grove. We've been there a few times and I knew they had a splash pad in addition to a large play area. We started at the park. Esme immediately went to the slides. She went down the big metal one a few times before I captured this video. It looks (and sounds) worse than it was. She cried for a bit, then headed back up for another ride.
Shortly after, both kids asked to go "swimming." We put on their suits and let them loose. I know it can get crazy on weekends, so we may need to come back on Friday again.

Memorial Day Weekend
We had a great holiday weekend! The Twins have been on fire and I was yearning for some live baseball, so I went to Friday's game by myself. That may seem a little strange, but it was actually really nice! I was able to just relax and enjoy the game. I tried teaching myself to keep score and got a visit from my friend, Rachel, who was working as an usher. It was also the first of four Joe Mauer bobblehead games. His number will be retired in a few weeks (we're going!) and he is being celebrated all season. I look forward to catching another solo game if it works out.
We had Sunday dinner at my parents with lots of great food, twister rides and freezies.
Esme suprised us all when she easily climbed in to the back of the twister. She does it with such ease! Still teaching her how to climb down, but one step at a time.
We had raspberry lemon jello cake for dessert and warmed up by the fire as the sun was setting.
I added to my shirt collection on Monday by making a Twins Bomb Squad shirt. They are on pace to hit over 300 for the season, which would destroy the record. HR rate typically declines as the season progresses, but we will take it while we can.
I hope you had a great weekend with family or friends and took some time to remember and honor those who gave their lives for our freedom.
