Esme's Birthday Week

Esme's birthday week started off a bit rough.  Just a few hours after I got home from Duluth, Esme got sick.  Jimmy and I were supposed to split the evening, but he let me sleep instead.
She had a really rough night, up and down a lot, but got 3 hours straight before waking up for the day.
She seemed to recover and was back at school Tuesday.  I put up her birthday sign out front and made some favors for her classmates.
I made her an adorable Bluey "6" shirt and she got to open a couple gifts after school on her actual birthday.  She got a goody bag from our dear neighbor, Dianne, a couple cards, and a gift from us.
She was so excited to see her Bingo talking stuffy.  Now she has both girls to play with.
We finished the night with ice cream from Culver's on the way to a sleepover at Grandpa and Nana's.
Happy Birthday Esme, can't wait to celebrate more!

Spring Blitz Youth Retreat

I tagged along as chaperone on this spring's youth retreat in Duluth with 17 students and 5 other adults.  We loaded up late Friday afternoon for the drive up.
After a dinner stop in Hinckley, we made it to the Duluth convention center just in time for the session to start.  The worship leader was Phil Joel, formerly of Newsboys.  Most of the students had no idea who he was, but were just as excited as the adult leaders by the time the weekend was over.
I ran in to my brother's ex-girlfriend's daughter as well.  It was so fun to see her.
We stayed in a hotel nearby that was within walking distance to the convention center.  We had a great view from our room.
We had some free time between programming in the afternoon for exploring and shopping.
By Saturday night, I was wiped.  My pajamas had never been more true.
We had such a fun weekend with a great group of kiddos!
We headed home after Sunday's morning session, stopping in Hinckley again for a late lunch.  I grabbed some pastries for the family, including a boston creme for myself!
I am looking forward to attending again next year if it works out!

Jayden's 18th Birthday

We had plans to see family again Saturday to celebrate our nephew, Jayden's 18th birthday.  The day started with a haircut for Esme.  As much as I like her long hair, it's a pain to brush after baths.  She did so great for her third try.  She got on the chair and listened to all of Corrie's instructions.  It really helps to know the person you are seeing.
After that we made Jayden's fudge brownie birthday cake.
Esme was kind enough to help clean off the whisk.  Grandpa and Grandma Herrmann stopped by for a visit in the afternoon.
We headed out to my brother's house in the evening.  Jimmy finally got a turn to hold the babies.  My mom helped make the meal so Kelsey and Sean didn't have to worry about too much.
Ganache and candles completed the cake.  I also realized I put one too many candles on after they were blown out.  Jayden can be seen starting to count them at the beginning of the video, but I don't know if he finished.  I think he would have made the mistake known if he did.
We had a great time celebrating and snuggling Jaxxon and Jameson.
Grandpa finally got his picture with all 5 grandkids as well.
Happy Birthday Jayden.  I can't believe you're 18 already.

Jaxxson and Jameson are Here!

Our nephews are finally here!  We were so excited to hear about their arrival last Friday.  14 lbs total between the two of them!
We told the kids about them and we were so impressed how quickly Parker grasped their names.
They had limited visitors in the hospital, so we got to meet them Monday night after they came home.  Esme wanted to get them a gift and chose Mario and Luigi stuffies.  After doing a little research, I learned they are not just brothers, but actually twins!

Esme thought it was so fun to hold Jameson (I think that's who she has).
Proud Grandparents
Proud auntie and Nana.
Grandpa with 4 of 5 grandkids.  Big brother Jayden was working, but we'll get a picture of all 5 soon.
We can't wait to watch them grow!
