This is a long overdue project that I finally started tackling in July. I noticed a slight sag in our fascia board a couple years ago and it got worse last year. I did have someone come out for a quote not really knowing what the issue was. They said it looked like it wasn't the trusses (a very good thing) and just eh fascia board pulling away from their connection points to the trusses. Now you gotta understand that this was 50' of boards overlapping to create a single unified piece. I was very nervous about getting it down without damaging the house. I managed to remove the gutter and metal trim myself. Then my dad came over with a couple ladders and we got to work. We made an initial cut where it was sagging the worst and used bungees to prevent it from falling. Within a couple hours we were able to safely remove the entire fascia board. Once that was complete, we made a plan for installing a new one. All but one truss end was in great shape. We took some measurements and ran to Menards for supplies to keep going.
We deciding added boards between every other truss would be the best option. This would create significantly more surface area to attach the fascia to.
Well deserved break!
Then we added the fascia boards to new braces.
I saved the soffit and was able to reinstall it, but needed to get new fascia trim.
