My mom and I have trekked to Ames, IA the past couple years to watch my cousin Kaylee play basketball. This year the game was on a Monday which was a bit of a buzz kill. I took a half day off work and picked up my mom for the trip down. We met my "little sister" Emily for dinner at Hickory Park. It was so delicious and fun to see her, even if it was only for an hour.
We got a Clone Cone for dessert at the game.
There was a much smaller Kaylee crowd this year since it was a week night, but we still found each other.
The cowgirls had a rough game and lost, but Kaylee finished the season with her 16th double-double and solidified her place at the leading scorer and rebounder in the Big 12 conference.
We lucked out and didn't have any issues with weather, but we were in the car for 6 hours and in Ames for 4. It made for a long day, but totally worth it!
