Myrtle Beach: Part 4

One more full day of vacation and it couldn't have been more perfect.  We started with a morning trip to the beach, which was out last visit.  This gave enough time for everything to dry out before being packed.
Nana and I helped Esme build a sand fort while Parker played in the waves with Jimmy.
This was the first time Parker voluntarily took a break from the ocean.  His feet were getting beat up a bit from all the jumping in the sand, so that may have been the motivation.  He grabbed Nana's sunglasses and I snapped this perfect picture.
We did a little more souvenir shopping in the afternoon.  My mom got both of them sweatshirts.
Then we headed across the street for some ice cream. Chocolate with sprinkles for the kids, coffee mocha shake for Jimmy and me, and a cone for Grandpa and Nana.
We ended the day with a couple more golf cart rides and two more visits to the pool.
Both kids gained so much confidence being in the water every day.  You can see Parker under water in this picture.  He was spending 5-8 seconds under water at a time by the last day.  Esme finally got the courage to jump in from the edge which can be seen in the video.  We were talking about it before heading to the pool and she said "mom, don't let me die" with the most serious face.  She repeated this sentiment to each of us adults as we helped her jump in from the edge.  I wish I had it on video.
Thursday was a travel day home.  Esme made sure to keep her new puppy, Kyla, nearby as we made our way through security.
Our gate had a perfect little nook that we could contain the kids in before boarding.
This was the perfect end of summer trip.  The next few weeks are going to be crazy, so it was nice to have some time to relax.

Myrtle Beach: Part 3

Tuesday morning found us stocking up on donuts again.  We had a Krispie Kreme close to the house, but it had limited hours due to staffing.  I was excited to see the hot light on when I got there and was able to deliver them back to the house still hot.
After breakfast, we did out only outing with the kids. Broadway at the Beach is a large outdoor shopping mall and attraction center about 25 minutes from the house.  We got there right at 10am.  It was already swelteringly hot, but there was hardly anyone else, which was the goal.  We walked around the full outer perimeter while stopping at a few stores for souvenirs and treats.  It was a cute little spot and an excuse to get out of the house.
We were all dripping when we got back to the car and stopped a the pool before lunch.  After rest time we headed back to the beach.
We ordered some BBQ takeout for supper that supplemented what we made.
Jimmy and I had a little night out to go mini-golfing.  Myrtle Beach is the self proclaimed min-golf capitol of the world, boasting over 50 courses.  We went to the closest one which ended up being Jamaica themed.  I thought this was fun since our last true beach vacation was our honeymoon in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.  It wasn't too busy so we were able to get through the 18 holes pretty quickly.  It was a fun course, but didn't have anything super strategic.
The kids explored the complex playground with Nana before heading to the pool for a sunset swim.
