Moving In

Things didn't go exactly as planned the week we were supposed to move in.  We were notified Tuesday morning that there was a delay with our buyer's financing.  We hoped it would be resolved quickly, but Wednesday and Thursday came with no progress.  We had a lot of fun at Grandpa and Nana's house.  Lots of tasty meals and we even got to pick some fresh veggies from a friend's garden.
The U-Haul needed to be back Saturday afternoon and we were running out of time.  We were planning to unload it in my parent's shed if we couldn't get in to the house.  We got an 11th hour miracle and found out we could have the keys Saturday morning.  It was a temporary rental agreement until the closings could be finalized.  We got loose in the hot tub before heading to the house.
It was also Crystal Frolics weekend, so I dropped off the truck and we headed to the waffle breakfast to fill our bellies.
I didn't get any unloading pictures, but we has another great crew and the truck was empty within 2 hours.  Here are the listing pictures of the new house and I will share more once we settle in a bit.

Possession is 9/10 of the law, or so they say, right?  Hopefully we will own 100% soon!

Moving Out

We've been preparing for moving out for a while now.  There was a lot of decluttering prior to listing.  We borrowed a trailer last weekend and loaded up everything in the garage.  It had pretty low side boards, but we were able to build them up with ladders and other stuff.  We took the back roads and parked it in my parents shed.
This is all the boxes from before we listed.
Jimmy went to pre-sign for our sale on Tuesday morning and we had the U-Haul booked to pick up that night.  He was told there may be a delay with the closing, but we decided to go ahead with loading.  Half the house was already packed and in the garage so there was no going back.
We had lots of helpers to load and to watch the kids.
We got everything loaded in under 3 hours even with a short rain delay.
My dad drove the truck back to there house since it would be a few days before we unloaded.
All that was left last night was Parker's mattress, Esme's pack n' play, an air mattress for us, some clothes and a few random things.
Jimmy went to bed and I had to lounge on softest thing I could find (it wasn't very soft.)
We will be spending the next couple nights with my parents and hopefully we get to unload on Friday as planned!

A Dresser and a Date Night

My mom has been holding on to a dresser for a while in hopes that it would be used in our new house some day.  Now that we have a house picked out we decided it would be perfect for Esme's new room.  She sanded and prepped it and we painted it last weekend.  Esme hung out in the pack n' play while we painted.
I decided on a teal ombre scheme and I think it turned out great.  My dad will tell you it was his idea to paint the top dark, we will let him keep believing that.
I am very excited to get in and set her room up!
Despite the craziness of getting the house ready to sell and prepping for moving, we were able to continue our Pixar tradition and saw Cars 3 on Friday.  We had limited theater options since it's already been out a month.  We went to AMC in Coon Rapids and I was taken aback by almost $14 per ticket.  It turned out to be one of those fancy recliner theaters so I was less bummed about the price tag.
After the movie we grabbed some grub at Muddy Cow.  Jimmy had a brisket sandwich with cole slaw.
I went a little wild and got the Sweetness burger with rings.  We will definitely be back!

Esme June - Fifteen Months Old

Esme is 15 months old today.  We officially have a walker!  She started taking a step or two just before the Fourth of July and really took off after we got home.  Video is at the bottom.  She has started using some more words as well and is waving goodbye.  She says mama, dada, nana (banana), and she starts to make a "P" sound for Parker.  No new teeth this month, but she has been using the ones she has very effectively.  She loves to eat and is usually up for trying new foods.

She is still wearing all 18 month clothing, size 4 diapers during the day and size 5 at night.  Her official measurements are 22 lbs. 2.5 oz and 30.5".  She continues to be on the higher end of the growth chart, but is perfectly healthy.
We got a free small cone at Dairy Queen and let Esme take part.  We probably won't give her ice cream right before bed any more since she was up until 10.  It was worth it to see her make a mess.

Happy Fourth of July

We didn't do too much to celebrate this year other than dressing the kids in red, white, and blue.
We went to Best Buy in the morning to purchase our new washer, dryer, and a new TV for Jimmy.  I've been promising for years he could get one when we move.  Then we headed to IKEA for a lunch and to do some preliminary shopping for the new house.
Dessert at Dairy Queen finished our outing.  Parker got his very first Mr. Misty (although they call it something different now.)
We were finally able to set the pool up for the first time now that the house is sold and inspections are complete.  Esme is not too sure about it.  It may be because it was a little cold or because of all the splashing.  She preferred staying in the yard or standing outside watching.
I took the 5th off as well and we had another day as a family so we headed to the children's museum.  This was Jimmy's first time in the newly renovated spaces.  It was nice to have another adult to wrangle the kids.
Parker was really intrigued by the fire truck display.  He has been fearful of real ones in the past, so this could be a step in the right direction.
We checked out a couple areas we hadn't seen on our last two visits.  Imaginopolis is filled with a variety of objects that are made to foster creativity.  Parker like the hanging noodle wall.
This will probably be our last visit for a while since we need to get packing.  Our move is just a few weeks away!
