Family Valentine's Day

We had a (mostly) awesome Valentine's Day.  After breakfast we donned our holiday appropriate "Go Big Red" gear and headed out for a play date.  We had a great time visiting with our friends, Derek, Shannon, Simon, and Daphne.
We made a fun card for Jimmy before lunch.  He got me the flowers on Thursday.  It's nice to have them a few days early to enjoy!
We kept it low key last year, but did do fondue for a couple year prior to that.  My parents had mentioned wanting to fondue with us, so we invited the over for dinner.  They came with an awesome balloon for Parker that he loved!
We started with Jimmy's mom's beer cheese fondue for dinner.  We had french bread, roasted potatoes, roasted asparagus, steamed broccoli and meatballs for dippers.
We also finally got around to drinking some wine we've had for a while.  It was a delicious cider wine we got during our 2013 trip to Bayfield, WI.
My mom also brought one of the wines we got a couple weeks ago on our trip to Ames.  Both were super delicious!
Parker actually ended up getting a little sick at dinner.  It wasn't too bad, but it was the first time he has thrown up at all.  His tummy was obviously giving him some guff, but he otherwise seemed in a good mood.  He went to sleep pretty fast and we will try to take it slow tomorrow.

The evening entertainment was a rousing game of Huskeropoly, a University of Nebraska themed Monopoly.
Finally, we did chocolate fondue for dessert.  Dippers were pound cake, vanilla wafers (not Nilla wafers), marshmallows, strawberries and bananas.  It was my first time making chocolate fondue, but it turned out great.  I used this Ghiradelli recipe, but with much cheaper chocolate from Aldi.
We were all in a fondue coma after that, but it was SO worth it.  Hope you got to spend the day with those you love!
