The Last of June

June 14th was a pretty epic day as my starting Wordle word was finally the answer!  I've been mildly obsessed with getting it on the first try and it's nice to have the pressure off.  I still use it as my first word out of habit sometimes which is a little annoying.

We've been doing some family softball practice when we can.  Esme has learned how to finger knit, which is a fun throw back from my childhood.  I did this for hours as a kid!

We had Chuck and Phyllis over for lunch this month. It was a great chance to catch up and share a meal.
Snoozing with Tom Nook and it was great to see Grandma and Grandpa Herrmann at Esme's softball games this week.

Splish Splash

We've been taking full advantage of the water park and pool at home so far this summer!
Waterpark snacks!
Pool party with my family.

Dinner with the Robideaus and Annual Tree Pictures

The catch up begins again... We had Rick and Heidi over for dinner and made fish tacos and elote salad.
We played Mario Kart as usual and Esme wanted to star practicing for future match-ups.
We took our annual tree pictures at Grandpa's house this weekend as well.  Esme's tree still has noticeable differences, but Parker's is getting harder to see.  Parker is taller than Nana and nearly as tall as I am, it will be fun to see if he surpasses Grandpa someday.

Halfway Through the Softball Season - Tournament Weekend

It has been such a fun summer watching Esme play softball.  She got her first hit a few weeks ago and then had a few in a row.
Aunt Tera and Emma came to watch and gave her a new-to-her bag with lots of goodies!
We had a tournament game scheduled for Friday night.  It got started before heavy rains postponed it to Saturday.
We were back bright and early Saturday to finish game 1 and continue through our pool games.
Esme is still working on getting in to hitting groove, but that will come.
She did a great job not swinging at bad pitches and drew some walks.
4 games to play on day 1 so we made a little lounging nest in the back of the van.
One of the gifts Esme got from Emma was this popcorn keychain and it became the team mascot.
I love the post game huddles and hearing the kids encourage and build one another up.
We finished right in the middle of the pack at 5th place. Great job ladies!

The Rest of the Trip

We had some more fun in Nebraska than just the reunion.  Esme loved swimming in the pool with the boys.
We went over to my cousin Felicia's house Saturday night and the girls had fun playing before we walked over to a music fest.
I spotted a sweet Vikings swingset on the walk over.
I knew we probably wouldn't last too long, but we were able to grab some treats and catch a few songs of Colton Dixon
Melissa and Felicia were my closest cousins growing up, within a few years younger.  I hung out with them a ton when I would visit as a kid.
A Nebraska trip isn't complete without a visit to Runza (if possible).
Somehow we always end up on a dirt road on these trips so I had to document it.
Ice cream and cookies for an afternoon treat on the way home.  We may or may not have stopped at McDonald's 4 times on the drive home.
Can't wait to visit again.
