Esme's First Movie - Secret Life of Pets 2

Esme went through a good phase of always wanting to watch Secret Life of Pets.  As soon as we hear there would be a second one, we knew it would be out first attempt in the theater with her.  We waited until it had been out a few weeks, so there would be less people in the theater in case she got a little antsy (spoiler alert: she did.)  We arrived without much time to spare before the main attraction, found our seat, and distributed snacks.  She was much more exited about the idea of popcorn, but didn't eat any.

She stayed really engaged for the first 45 minutes or so, then started to wander.  Luckily, there were only two others in our row and no one in front of us.  She sat in a few other seats and went up and down the stairs many times.  I apologized to the ladies in our row, but they said she did really great and wasn't a bother.

I'd call it a success overall.  May need to attempt Frozen 2 this fall!

Women's Pottery Night at Church

You may remember the rock painting event I did at church last summer.  The women's summer fun series is back this year and started with a pottery night on Wednesday.  Northern Clay Center came in to facilitate making coffee mugs (or whatever else they turned in to.)  They shows us how to pinch the clay to form a mug, add feet, a handle, and other decorate elements.

My mom joined me and we had a great time chatting and being creative.

I already have a cow print mug I keep on the mug wall in the youth room, so I tried to make a coordinating one.

There were a lot of fun items made.  Anagrace made a guacamole bowl, complete with pestle.

Rachel made a juicer and someone made a monkey?

It will take a few weeks for them to be fired, can't wait to see how they turn out!

Four Little Robins

We had a robin build a nest on our porch light.  There was an empty one there for a while that I didn't move until last summer.  Since it was vacant early enough, another bird decided to make a home.  I noticed it in late May and had been taking pictures every couple days.  I couldn't see in from the step, but was able to hold my phone over it.  I finally saw eggs on June 8th and continued to document them as much as I could.  There is a video at the end as well.

 The mom and dad were not swooping in as much at the beginning, so I was able to lift the kids up to show them the baby birds.  Esme continued to talk about them and point to the nest as the days went by.

 June 22nd - Only two birds left, not long before it's empty.

 June 23rd - Empty nest.  It was a fun couple of weeks watching the birds grow!
