A Growing Smaller Update

It has been just over two months since I shared this story about my struggles with weight.  I had follow-up blood work done to check what my thyroid and blood sugar numbers are and got great news!  3 months ago my A1C (3 month blood sugar average) was 9.6.  This meant my average blood sugar level was 228.  Today my A1C is 6.9, an average of 151!  While it is still higher that it should be it was an amazing improvement over 3 months.  My thyroid also improved to a high normal range.  The doctor was impressed with how quickly I have been able to get healthier.  I like to think that it is a combination of medication and healthier living.

On that note, how is my weight loss going?  If you have been reading the last few months, you have seen that we have had our share of vacations!  It is never easy to stick to a regimented diet when you are out of your comfort zone.  I gave myself a goal of not GAINING any weight during our month long stretch of trips.  I didn't gain any weight, but I also didn't lose as much as I had hoped.  I am down another 7 pounds for a total of:

30!

I am pretty excited to reach that number, over half-way to my first goal!  I haven't been a fan of pictures from the neck down over the last year, but I felt really good when I got dressed this morning and I feel like this shows that my hard work is paying off!

Next week, I start Weight Wars at my work.  It is an 8 week weight loss competition with teams from locations all of the Americas.  I am hoping that will be extra motivation to drop some serious pounds!  I can't wait to update you again soon!
